last to know, first to go
whoa yet again, the week passed by super quickly! local attachment at Simei Care Centre and St Andrew's Community Hospital ended today. and i must say, it was really a new experience and different from what i expected.
i didnt look forward at all in gg there, with the main reason being it was so farrrrr like in far away land or sth. and of coz, the other reason planted at the back of my mind was tt i didnt feel prepared at all. unlike the other groups, we had no preparation of any programmes at all. we dint know wat was gg to come our way.
and so, being last to know and first to go, there were alot of things i felt we could have done much better in. if only they gave us more time to prepare, told us what to expect and how things were like way beforehand, then we wldnt have appeared like we have shortchanged them. i felt everything was so rushed and there was not much that i cld do with such little time for planning and preparing.
but with all these limitations, i realised i failed to keep a prayerful spirit w e group. during the debrief session it dawned upon me that i was kinda caught up with wat we had to do and dwelling on how satisfied am i with the jobs done, since we were "last to know, first to go" and blah blah blah. but how much of tt did it really matter? did i commit every single thing to the Lord? after all, its not about my satisfaction tt ive touched pple's lifes in a big way. but God uses every bit of us to do His mighty work. i thought i knew tt alr, but i guess i did not see before how it cld have applied in this manner during the whole week of attachment.
it was really tough and draining, especially interacting with the sick elderly who spoke dialects tt i cldnt even understand. obviously, inadequacy set in. but then, God didnt just show me my inadequacy to show me how He can work thro me in times like these. Or say like "there! now you know you need me, SEE." but instead this is the be foundation, the starting point and calling for me to take the effort to equip myself so that ill be more able in future.
despite the fact that i was really tired during some of the times and did not feel like doing what i was supposed to do, there is really so much ive learnt and wat ive come to understand tt strikes my heart and mind: the sincerity of the mental patients, them taking ownership of where they are placed at, the hearts of the nurses for the sick, the longings and desires of the elderly patients, their great appreciation for us visiting them... and MUCH more.
so.. would all these be just a passing?
i hope not.

rest
a week of long days and late nights. this week just zooomed by like a zooming zebra!
and my mind is getting very very messy.
lectures. book review. testimonies. sharing. incidents. comments.
so many thoughts hitting me at all sides in all directions! agh.
week's highlights:
dad's bday on 12th feb. my mom gave him a very very very sweet card. so sweet la!
watched ah long pte ltd and had dinner with ppg gang :P we were supposedly late for the movie and so jeri n zhien ran to lido. where i was waiting, i witness both of them panting like a panther as they emerged from the escalator! hahhaa. a funny sight!
then on the way home - my ezlink card had no money left and i only had ten cents on me! but once again, my day was saved - this time by zee who was w me! (rhymes)
went to cluny park with GG on valentine's! settled down beside a pond for picnic lunch. (i like!)
we got excited feeding the fishes, tortoises and black swans in the pond.. haha. then started fishing and shrimping hahaha.
plus clement was super funny! he wore plastic bags on his feet into the pond to catch the fish. haha and when he threw the frisbee into the pond TWICE, he waddled INTO the pond to retrieve it.
we also video-ed down our dances, our commercials, and all the lame nonsense we were doing. haha! funn time.
today - orange blessings for dover! and oh man when we were packing the oranges there were rotten-to-the-max oranges! so gross that we had to have terminators la!! yuckss.
and then guess wat! aft tt, we went to finish doing the stuff for Bethel hall. and we did!! the work tt was set out for chris n i to complete. yesssssss yay feel so accomplished! with the help of vicky amaria and aaron!! lesson learnt? 5 works better than 2. haha.
next week local attachment all the way at simei. imagine all the travelling. n i dont feel like staying over at all actually. but i guess ill do so for one night at least.

chinese new year-
-somehow isn't as chinese-like so far. haha
reunion dinner at granny's place:

and watched charlie brown till i feel asleep
visiting at granny's place (again) the next day:
prata for lunch - that's indian food at chinese new year, haha!
mahjong, where my dad went on and on trying to teach us his counting method

playing with Miles (the dog they were looking after for awhile, super cute!)

and of course, between all of it was eating and eating. haha. no blackjack this time, which can be considered quite a relief since my uncle always cheats us. but then it made it less like chinese new year.

tom and jerry movie -on cartoon network
the simpsons movie -on dvd
mickey donald and goofy - the three musketeers -on disney
nice! and guess wat. not counting the simpsons, the other two has a MOUSE involved!
how timely for the year of the rat/mouse!
(except cartoon network only showed tom and jerry because of tom, not jerry. they changed year of the rat to year of the KAT. how lame can!)

what do you mean?
its chinese new year - gong xi fa cai! haha. (guess what my username used to be gxfc la! before blogger asked everyone to upgrade and log in using google usernames, haha)
but on a different note altogether, i rmbred i wanted to find out the difference between 'hallelujah' and 'alleluia'! ..and i just did.
turns out both is the same!
Hallelujah/Alleluia: praise to God
and here are a few other hebrew words and their meanings:
Hosanna: rescue us
Amen: let it be so
Bethel: house of God (Beth means house, and El means God)
Shalom: peace
i must admit i didnt know the meanings 'bethel' and 'amen' until today!
i guess from now on i want to make a conscious effort to know what im saying. if not, i wont even know what i mean, and might just end up following blindly.
hmmm.

thousands and thousands of words
just as i said, i've uploaded my handphone pics! hahaa. so here they go, in a very random order :P
1. aunty leong!! she even airs her smelly shoes in the library la!
2. the rain was drawing nearing but yujia n mich stubbornly thoughtt an umbrella wld do, but they end up running for shelter anw. HAHA. please note tt mich is wearing 1 shoe n 1 slipper
3. at amaria's place! surprised rubhi. watched 3 dvds including the COBRA DANCE scene haha!

5a. during cell today, amanda and sheep eats grass (green pillow = green grass)
5b. then, amanda brings sheep to drink water while it stands on grass. (blue pillow = blue water)
6. BBALL! it was raining so we were ingenious pple in protecting our belongings. the raincoat val gave me was used as e base !

9. this is TROOPER! he/she followed me home, trooping all e way so i called him trooper! haha. he's really cute and friendly.. but i donno where he is alr, feel so bad coz i cldnt take care of him

11. sa soccer girls' version of lo hei. coz they forgot to buy e carrot or wat not, so they mixed e rest of e stuff w e lettuce salad. LOL
